We are the Shopping Queens..

May 11th, 2007 by jinglestars

Hi! I’m back! Back to the blogging world. Needless to say, it has been monthsss since my last post. Have been busy with work and am so sick of facing the pc for the whole day in the office that I refused to have anything much to do with my pc at home, except to check my mails. :( Anyway, I’m determined to stop this work, sleep, work sleep routine!

Just been to Taiwan with Kel, Qin and SL for a holiday. We went to Hualian and Taipei. We were very disciplined in Hualian and spent all our time sight-seeing (so many mountains, rivers and waterfalls ~ which look the same after awhile..). Our guide took us to this "Shui Lian Dong" (Sun Wukong’s house in Taiwan?) which was really fun. We had to wear raincoats and walked through the dark and wet cave which had water gushing down from the top of the mountains. It’s pretty exciting because at certain points, the cave was completely pitched black and we had to walk along a small pavement.

We spent a total 4 full days in Taipei and 85% of the time was spent on shopping! Qin and Kel prepared a very impressive itinery (with lotsa sight-seeing!) but we ended up changing the sight-seeing trips to shopping trips! We spent a record 7hrs straight shopping at Wu Fen Pu in a day.. and only had our dinner at 10 plus when our hands are full of shopping bags! (TIP: I’ve come to the conclusion that shopping is the best way to slim down!!!) Well, at least mine and Qin’s are full.. And guess what? We went back to Wu Fen Pu to shop on the 2nd day! We also continued our shopping at Jiu Fen (Yes, jiufen!!), Ximending and Shilin night market (Actually by the time we were there on the 3rd day, I’m pretty broke already! :D).

All in all, it has been a very fun though tiring trip. So gals, when’s our next trip?? ;)

LIVE ~ Man U vs Arsenal

April 20th, 2006 by jinglestars

Yep, it’s LIVE. I watched the match LIVE in Old Trafford! Though my mood was dampened cos’ Arsenal lost the match.. it was still a GOOD experience. But wat’s the price for an once-a-lifetime experience? 120 pounds! Which comes up to about S$360.. quite a price to pay hor.. But still I think it’s worth it, since I had and will still be willing to fork out 200 plus to watch Jay’s concert. =P

Before the match started, it was snowing.. despite the fact that the climate should be approaching summer. The weather is getting weird lately. Anyway, I was sooooo worried that the match will be postponed! But fortunately, the snow stopped and give way to a bright and sunny weather (weird rite??!). The Arsenal fans arrived eariler at the stadium and were singing even before the match started. In fact, they were noiser than the Man U fans until Man U scored. Prob cos’ there were alot of tourists watching the match (like me!) and lotsa them do not know the chants.

An unfortunate fact ~ I was seated among the annoying Man U fans cos’ I bought the tickets at Manchester. No choice. How I wish I was with the away fans. I gotta tolerate the singing of the Man U fans behind and infront of me.. :(

Anyway, it was a totally different feel watching the match live @ e stadium and on tv. On tv, you have the commentators exciting you and you have replays if you missed an action. But you dun get that @ e stadium. There’s no replays if you missed anything and more often than not, you can’t see it (eg, Toure’s handball) because it happened too fast or because you are seated at the wrong side. So there were no protests from the fans. And also, you will feel that you are watching a "silent movie", with some background music. ;) However, you get to see the whole picture @ the stadium. It’s harder to get that on tv cos they tend to focus on a small section of the field where the ball is.

And hor.. we all know that Ronaldo is fast, but i tell you.. he is really FAST! You know.. REALLY fast! Park is also very fast, and whenever you see them running down (sprinting is prob a better word!), you will acty feel scared cos they look so dangerous.

But again, I was impressed with Arsenal’s one-touch play..somehow, they seemed to always know where their players are.. unfortunately they din play very well that day. I thought they were ok in the midfield and defensively, they were very good in the 1st half. Up front, they seemed limited though and they seemed to be lacked of ideas. Oh, Fabregas looked very small on the field. My fren (who’s not a soccer fan) was asking me how come Arsenal fielded a little boy. heh.. Little but GOOD!

I am still waiting for an opportunity to watch a match @ Arsenal’s homeground. Hopefully, it will be soon! :)

Interesting read to end your day :)

Found this online.. and i thought it’s an interesting read.. ;)

Two more aisles . . .

A man observed a woman in the grocery store with a three year old girl in her basket. As they passed the cookie section, the little girl asked for cookies and her mother told her no. The little girl immediately began to whine and fuss, and the mother said quietly, "Now Monica, we just have half of the aisles left to go through; don’t be upset. It won’t be long."

Soon they came to the candy aisle, and the little girl began to shout for candy. And when told she couldn’t have any, began to cry. The mother said, "There, there, Monica, don’t cry–only two more aisles to go, and then we’ll be checking out."

When they got to the check-out stand, the little girls immediately began to clamor for gum and burst into a terrible tantrum upon discovering there’d be no gum purchased. The mother patiently said, "Monica, we’ll be through this check out stand in 5 minutes and then you can go home and have a nice nap."

The man followed them out to the parking lot and stopped the woman to compliment her. "I couldn’t help noticing how patient you were with little Monica," he began. Whereupon the mother said, "I’m Monica . . . . . my little girl’s name is Tammy."

I met someone famous!

March 28th, 2006 by jinglestars

Oh.. on my trip from Singapore to London, I met someone famous on board! I have the honour of meeting Ronnie O’Sullivan, one of the world’s best Snooker player! Dressed very simply in t-shirt and pants, he doesn’t put on any airs and is very down-to-earth. Though I’m not a Snooker fan, I still feel kinda star-struck.. haha.. Anyway, I took a picture with him and got his autograph. yeah! :)

Arsenal is BACK!!

March 28th, 2006 by jinglestars

Yeah!! Ars 2 - 0 Juve.. 1st leg of the Quarter Finals of the Champions League. :D Seeing the way they play, it really feel great to be an Arsenal fan.. :) And I love their style of playing. :D

Anyway, I just came back from London.. visited Highbury and went to catch a glimpse of the Emirates Stadium.. and WOW! It’s very grand.. very chio! Totally different from Highbury.. though I like Highbury too.. it gives me a very cosy and homey feeling.. ;) You can see the pictures of the stadium in my Arsenal album.

FYI, the nearest tube station to Highbury and Emirates Stadium is the Arsenal Station.. isn’t it great to have a tube station named after ur team? Not all teams have the honour wor.. ;) And if you look at the pictures in my album, you can see that the tunnel in the tube station is filled with pictures of Arsenal.. they are drawn to honour Highbury.. as Arsenal played their last season there. :)

And as usual, I bought some stuff from the Arsenal shop. I got myself a keychain which contains a few blades of grass from the turf of Highbury Stadium.. hee.. :) Got myself an Official Arsenal album too.. haha.. and also 2 bears.. and a jacket! Hmm.. spent more than 50 pounds but i’m happy with my buy. ;)

悲伤恋歌, Sad Love Song

March 16th, 2006 by jinglestars

Sigh.. just finished watching a korean drama series, called 悲伤恋歌 or Sad Love Song. Very sad but very nice. It’s currently showing on SCV but I can’t wait to watch it week by week.. so i bought the series.

Sad Love Song is highly emotional and things can get tearful. I do recommend it for everyone who loves a bittersweet love story. Watch this one with a box of tissues and be prepared to feel sad.

Sad Love Song, just as the drama name suggests, delivers a tragic storyline about three characters; through their passion to launch careers in the music industry, their lives are intertwined by fate within the intricate nature of love and friendship.

As a boy growing up, Seo Jun-young (Kwon Sang-woo) hates his social status of being the prostitute’s son. He is ashamed of being raised by his single mother (Na Young-hee), who owns a pub at the American army’s base area. Humiliated with the endless teasing, insults and bullying at school, Jun-young is frequently involved in fights with his peers. All until he meets Park Hye-in, who showers him with love and diverts his attention to develop his musical talent of becoming a promising composer.

Park Hye-in (Kim Hee-sun) is Seo Jun-young’s childhood sweetheart. A tragic infancy resulted Hye-in losing her parents, and then she suffered the loss of her eyesight during a severe illness. Seo Jun-young, as her classmate, first started to help out Hye-in by the request of their teacher. However, within time, Hye-in and Jun-young build a strong bond of friendship that blossoms into everlasting love. Hye-in was raised by her aunt, Audrey (Jin Hee-kyung), who works at the pub owned by Jun-young’s mother. She inherited her mother’s beautiful voice and enjoys playing the piano with hopes of becoming a renowned singer.

Seo Jun-young’s best friend is Lee Gun-woo (Yeon Jung-hoon). They met in the occasion of a bizarre misunderstanding which led to a violent fight between the boys. After Lee Gun-woo and Seo Jun-young beat the crap out of each other, both of them eventually formed a special bond and developed a close friendship during high school. Lee Gun-woo is the heir of his father’s successful telecommunications business company in South Korea. The loss of his mother during childhood has impacted Gun-woo’s life, which causes him to distrust love. He is a bit rebellious towards his father’s requests, as he has an ambitious dream of starting his own music production company.

Seo Jun-young is a tragic character in this drama. His only love, Park Hye-in, continues to be separated from him, while he suffers through a series of misfortunate events without her. He gets a new identity as Choi Jun-kyu, while he lives with his father (Lee Young-ha) in Seoul, for high school registration purposes. During some of the lowest point in his teenage life, his friendship with Lee Gun-woo and Jang Jin-pyo (Mc Mong) alleviate some of his distress.

When Park Hye-in’s aunt, Audrey, decides to marry her American boyfriend and seek a new life in New York, Hye-in unwillingly leaves Jun-young to be with her aunt. Life in America turns out to be a complete nightmare. Audrey’s abusive husband leaves Hye-in and Audrey to seek another refuge, whilst Audrey looks aimlessly for means of employment to finance their trip back to South Korea.

Coincidently, Lee Gun-woo comes to New York to further his studies at Princeton. Fate brings Park Hye-in to meet Lee Gun-woo at Central Park; it is love at first sight for Gun-woo. He instantly becomes a saviour to Audrey’s problems. He helps Hye-in to land singing gigs at a jazz club, finances Hye-in’s eye surgery and loves Hye-in with all his heart. He even assists Jun-young to visit New York, in hopes of helping Jun-young find his girlfriend. The attempt fails through a drug trafficking mix-up and Jun-young, destined to be apart from Hye-in, is sent back to South Korea immediately.

Hye-in’s life falls apart when she loses touch with Jun-young and receives a false informed letter about Jun-young’s death. Lee Gun-woo stands by her through her depressed days, suicide attempts, and Hye-in still passionately lingers onto her first love, Jun-young, who lives in her heart. In the meantime, Gun-woo actively pursues Hye-in, and proposes to her.

Upon the completion of his studies, Lee Gun-woo returns to South Korea with Park Hye-in, and Gun-woo proudly brings Hye-in to visit his best friend, Seo Jun-young (whom he knew as Choi Jun-Kyu from high school). At the first sight of Park Hye-in and Lee Gun-woo together, Seo Jun-young’s heart sinks to rock bottom. The turmoil follow suit for all three characters, at the crossroads of choosing love or friendship, depicts one of the saddest melodramas…

What Women Really Want (Part 2)

March 9th, 2006 by jinglestars

Well.. after hearing some answers, I suppose it’s normal that different people would make different choices.. some prefer her to be beautiful in the day and some in the night.. ONLY our dear Wei Meng is so greedy to want her to be beautiful both in the day n night! *rolling my eyes*

Nevertheless.. read on..

..Noble Gawain replied that he would let her choose for herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time, because he had respected her and had let her be in charge of her own life.

What is the moral of the story?

The moral is that it doesn’t matter if a woman is pretty or ugly, smart or dumb. Underneath it all, she’s still a . . . . . witch!!! =P
