LIVE ~ Man U vs Arsenal

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

Yep, it’s LIVE. I watched the match LIVE in Old Trafford! Though my mood was dampened cos’ Arsenal lost the match.. it was still a GOOD experience. But wat’s the price for an once-a-lifetime experience? 120 pounds! Which comes up to about S$360.. quite a price to pay hor.. But still I think it’s worth it, since I had and will still be willing to fork out 200 plus to watch Jay’s concert. =P

Before the match started, it was snowing.. despite the fact that the climate should be approaching summer. The weather is getting weird lately. Anyway, I was sooooo worried that the match will be postponed! But fortunately, the snow stopped and give way to a bright and sunny weather (weird rite??!). The Arsenal fans arrived eariler at the stadium and were singing even before the match started. In fact, they were noiser than the Man U fans until Man U scored. Prob cos’ there were alot of tourists watching the match (like me!) and lotsa them do not know the chants.

An unfortunate fact ~ I was seated among the annoying Man U fans cos’ I bought the tickets at Manchester. No choice. How I wish I was with the away fans. I gotta tolerate the singing of the Man U fans behind and infront of me.. :(

Anyway, it was a totally different feel watching the match live @ e stadium and on tv. On tv, you have the commentators exciting you and you have replays if you missed an action. But you dun get that @ e stadium. There’s no replays if you missed anything and more often than not, you can’t see it (eg, Toure’s handball) because it happened too fast or because you are seated at the wrong side. So there were no protests from the fans. And also, you will feel that you are watching a "silent movie", with some background music. ;) However, you get to see the whole picture @ the stadium. It’s harder to get that on tv cos they tend to focus on a small section of the field where the ball is.

And hor.. we all know that Ronaldo is fast, but i tell you.. he is really FAST! You know.. REALLY fast! Park is also very fast, and whenever you see them running down (sprinting is prob a better word!), you will acty feel scared cos they look so dangerous.

But again, I was impressed with Arsenal’s one-touch play..somehow, they seemed to always know where their players are.. unfortunately they din play very well that day. I thought they were ok in the midfield and defensively, they were very good in the 1st half. Up front, they seemed limited though and they seemed to be lacked of ideas. Oh, Fabregas looked very small on the field. My fren (who’s not a soccer fan) was asking me how come Arsenal fielded a little boy. heh.. Little but GOOD!

I am still waiting for an opportunity to watch a match @ Arsenal’s homeground. Hopefully, it will be soon! :)
